{ I am PO'd }

I am so mad. Made a double batch of sugar cookie dough. Same recipe I've used for years. It's dry and crumbly and a fight to get rolled out. Didn't really notice the bad texture till it was out of the mixer. I have four 'slabs' in plastic wrap waiting in the fridge to be rolled and baked. Any suggestions as to what I can do to help it out?

GRRRRRRR.........

{ Romantic Homes magazine... }

Anyone else have trouble with them? They have lost issues, sent several late. They keep blaming my mail carrier. I have FIVE magazine subs and they are the only ones who can't get my magazine to me in a timely manner.  The February issue is out in the stores over a week now. I do not have mine. I'm really ticked off right now. Grrrrr.

{Snapshot}

For those of you wondering, I googled it. It's an advertising gimmick/gizmo that you add to your blog. When you click on a link within a blog it pops-up with product advertising. It's HERE if you want to check it out. This is what it says in a nutshell:

Snap Shots is the world's most popular way to give your users a more fun and interactive experience on your site or blog. It's a complete system designed to help you get more from your site.
  • Snap Shots uses your links to bring the most appropriate information about the sites you're pointing to. Your audience doesn't even have to leave your site to get the best of other sites.
  • Snap Shares gives you a portion of the ads that appear in Snap Shots and lets you do what you wish — market yourself or share them with charity.
I've nearly quit reading blogs that have it. Chaps my hide. At least with ads on sidebars I can CHOOSE to look at them.

{I hate...}

"Snapshot" or whatever that box is that pops-up on links on some blogs. Very annoying.

{Can you guess what we're up to???}

Yep, we're moving. I just want to cry. It came upon us kind of suddenly, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. We've lived in this rental for 13 years! When we moved in we were newlyweds. It was just temporary until we decided where we wanted to live. Well, we had such great landlords, and loved the place so much, we just stayed. I thought I would be here forever. To make a long story short, our landlords lost their house to the bank and gave us 30 days notice to vacate as they need to move in here!! When I heard the news I got physically ill. There is 13 years of accumulation, and we're moving to a much smaller home. I won't have a dedicated craft room anymore and I just don't know how to feel about that.

We were not able to find a place quickly here in our hometown, so we're moving to a smaller town about 20 minutes away. Not so bad, 'cuz I'll be nearer to my sister, BUT, we both work here, so there will be a longer drive to work. I don't mind so much, as I only work a couple of days a week, but MDH works 7 days a week for the local newspaper; in the middle of the night no less. He's not looking forward to THAT, but ya do what ya gotta do.

I wish I was younger.

Rant...

Was anyone else outraged when they saw the new Burger King commercial? I'm glad I'm not alone. They just can't win for losing. Check this one out. I'd be finding me a new ad agency pronto. Besides, I think the new 'king' is hideous! We don't eat there anyway.

And this is what happens when...

...you go and blog about the demise of your kitchen timer while dinner's on the stove.

This is what happens when...

...you mistake the kitchen timer for the oven thermometer. R.I.P.

@#$%&^$#*&^%

Got my CERTIFIED Marriage Certificate in the mail yesterday. Toddled on down to DMV after doing hair and make-up. After all, I'll have this license for 8 years so I wanted it to look good. There were only THREE people there. SCORE! I'll get in and out quickly. GREAT, as we're trying to get ready to go camping. WELLL... a nice guy comes over to see if I have any questions and what I'll be doing. I tell him I need to complete my license renewal. He gets this "aw, I'm sorry" look on his face and tells me all their cameras are down statewide and I can't get my picture taken. I'll have to come back. 'nuff said.

Why does everything have to be so complicated?

Sunday is my birthday. And my driver license expires. Thought I had all my ducks in a row, so off I went to the DMV first thing this am. Took my number, and sat for 20 minutes. A nice guy came over and let me get my vision test out of the way, then my # was called.
"How can I help you?"
"I need to renew my license." (Hand him my license.)
"Do you have your birth certificate?"
"Yes. It's the original, so it's very fragile, like me". (Circa 1952.)
"Do you have your S.S. card?"
"Yes." (Hand him the card.)
"Do you have your marriage certificate?" (Because name is different from birth certificate. Whip it out and hand it to him.)
"This is not valid." (OMG)
"Why?"
"Because it's not certified. You need your marriage LICENSE." (Good grief!)
"But it says on my renewal form CERTIFICATE."
"We know. The wording is wrong. We're working on it." (Holy s**t!)
No matter that Social Security issued me a card with my married name, that DMV issued me a license with my married name. Isn't that proof that I LEGALLY changed my name? NOPE!!

SO, I left there with a temporary license good for 90 days. Better than nothing. I don't even have the luxury of just trotting on down to the county courthouse for a new one because we were married when we lived in Lincoln City on the COAST! A 4 hour drive from here. I called and once they receive my payment BY MAIL (they don't take cards over the phone), they will send a copy of our license. I really wanted to get this taken care of on my vacation, so I don't have to rush from work to the DMV.

Can I change the saying "goin' postal" to "goin' dmv"?!?!

So sad...

Our local St. Vincent de Paul store is CLOSING!!!! It's my absolute FAVORITE thrift store!!! I've found so many neat things there. Hubby and I are both bummed, as he has caught the thrifting bug as well. The only TS's around here now are a small Humane Society store and an over-priced Goodwill. What am I gonna do???? Gone is the thrill of the hunt! Hmmm... maybe it's a sign that I don't need any more stuff!?!?! But but but... I still have a whole wall in the kitchen crying out for something cool. With gas prices so high, running around to yard and garage sales seems like a daunting endeavor, but I'm sure I will succumb to the overpowering need to scrounge in someone else's junk!! It's a sickness, I tell ya!!!

Rant...

Well, I got a flat tire on the way to work this morning. Second one in 6 months. My tires are less than 2 years old and 100% guaranteed, so there's no out of pocket expense. MDH works nights so I had to get him up and he wasn't pleased. The kicker is I've been giving a coworker a ride to and from work and she had to scramble to get a ride. I feel like I let her down, but what can ya do?? Life's little hassles, they say, but it just really messes up my day when it starts out like that! GRRR........
