An award and much happiness...

I want to thank Mrs. RGS at Quirky Cottage for my very first award! I'm very humble :-)

To be worthy of this award. first I need to list 6 things that make me happy.

#1 I am happy that I have my health; such as it is at 56!

#2 So happy to have a husband that loves to go thrifting and junking with me and doesn't sit around and drink beer and watch football (not that there's anything wrong with that )

#3 Very happy to have raised a daughter with a head on her shoulders and who has given me 5 beautiful grandchildren (even if they are clear across the country!)

#4 I am also happy, no, grateful for what I have in the way of home and possessions. We don't have a lot, but we're better off than some.

#5 All of the love and kisses that my pets give me makes me very happy. Bless their sweet souls.

and #6 I'm happily grateful to all of my 'friends' in the blogging community, and for all of the nice comments they post.

Now, I need to pass on this lovely award to 6 more bloggers!! So, I'll start with...

1. June at ByeByePie. She's a very funny, light-heaarted lady who makes me smile everyday.

2. To my daughter, MomVader, who is an inspiration to me. She raises 5 kids and a husband and is a full-time college student majoring in education. I couldn't have done that at her age.

3. Angelina at Dust Pan Alley. So very down-to-earth, and I love that!

4. JuLo at Corgi Tails. Gotta love those short-legged dogs, and her stories and photos are great!

5. Pam at PamKittyMorning. SOSOSO creative!

6. Mary at Little Red House. A very lovely blog.

So, folks! Now you need to copy and paste the award into anew post on your blog, come up with 6 things that make you happy, and pass it on to 6 more bloggers! Fun, eh?

Vintage travel trailers..

I have become enamored of them. It is a whole sub-culture that I only recently discovered. I'd like nothing better than to find an old one and restore it. Now that I'm 'looking', here is what we discovered at the lot next to MDH's work building, hiding in the bushes from embarrassment. We're going to ask if it's for sale :-)

The weekend...

Had a blast! First we hit this yard sale..
Wow! They had a ton of stuff! The little old lady lived there in this...
Cute, eh? And , no, all of the stuff for sale was NOT hers, it was her daughter's. No way it would have all fit in that wittle twailer.

Then we went here to deliver some Gusto magazines...

While there, we saw...

Clydesdales!! They are very sweet, and came right up to the fence for nuzzles!! Wow! They are huge!! (I'm 5' tall).

Then we went to this yard sale...
then we went to the Senior Thrift Store. All told, we came home with this...
Once I have it all sorted, I will post my favorites.

It is good to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought. ~James Douglas, Down Shoe Lane

Green Kitchen..

...has a tutorial to make a darling wrist pincushion and it's also Giveaway! To enter for the Giveaway you need to leave a comment and link to the tutorial. Very easy! The pincusion looks easy to make and, boy, are they handy!!

Taking a break...

..from loading tons of stuff on Etsy!! MDH and I went to a local "junque shop" , Pakit Liquidators, yesterday. It is not known for it's collectibles, but rather it's old doors, appliances and rickety furniture. We find the occasional small treasure, and yesterday we hit the mother lode!

It was the remnants of an estate, stuff the 'kids' didn't think was worth anything. There were boxes and boxes of stuff that had sat out in the weather and were FILTHY!! After 20 minutes of digging, we came up with two HUGE piles of VINTAGE kitchen stuff!!

This is what I kept...

a cute turquoise silverware tray for my Exacto knives and stuff....

a red potato peeler for my collection...

this awesome tub...

this cute tiny pancake turner...

pretty plates to hang on the wall...

this little sauce pourer/butter melter?...

this adorable little chair for my studio…

and these for my sister's blue house.

As for the rest...check out my Etsy Shoppe and see all of the wonderful vintage goodies I found!!!!!!!!!

And this is what happens when...

...you go and blog about the demise of your kitchen timer while dinner's on the stove.

This is what happens when...

...you mistake the kitchen timer for the oven thermometer. R.I.P.

Thought I should post about...

..our camping trip last weekend. We play in the SCA, and last weekend was our branch's annual Harvest Tournament where we choose our defenders for the year. It was incredibly HOT!!! 107 where we were! That is so unusual for our area. I thought I was gonna die!! Don't know how our fighters did it in all their armor!! Here are some pics...

Belly dancers!

ME..trying to stay cool!!

This is the beautiful site where we were...Petersen's Rock Garden.

It's a beautiful place, and would have been much nicer if the weather had bee 30 degrees cooler!!!

Couldn't resist...

..posting these photos of my beautiful baby girl, Violet.

Last weekend on our camping trip...

And here she is last winter in the snow...
Isn't she precious???

Did I tell you....

@#$%&^$#*&^%

Got my CERTIFIED Marriage Certificate in the mail yesterday. Toddled on down to DMV after doing hair and make-up. After all, I'll have this license for 8 years so I wanted it to look good. There were only THREE people there. SCORE! I'll get in and out quickly. GREAT, as we're trying to get ready to go camping. WELLL... a nice guy comes over to see if I have any questions and what I'll be doing. I tell him I need to complete my license renewal. He gets this "aw, I'm sorry" look on his face and tells me all their cameras are down statewide and I can't get my picture taken. I'll have to come back. 'nuff said.

Word for the day....

Raillery
1. good-humored banter or teasing repartee

butt butt butt...

Isn't this the cutest doggie butt you've ever seen?

Vacation...

...is almost over and I didn't get all the sewing done that I anticipated I would. The ding dang laundry room took WAY longer then we thought. I did manage to make this last night. Sewn by hand while watching an old movie on TV.

It's a dispenser for plastic bags made out of a vintage kitchen towel. If I had it to do over I wouldn't have used such wide elastic, but it's still pretty cute. We never get plastic grocery bags as we use our own, so I save bread bags to use for cleaning kitty litter box. It hangs on the rack with my aprons right near the litter box. Very handy!

Yesterday I took all of my aprons down and washed and hung them on the line (except for the one I was wearing). I just stood and stared at them 'cuz they looked so purty out there! Don't you agree??

Now that...

... I am "slapping 60 in the face", as my Grandmother used to say, I am waxing a tad nostalgic. I'm going through some old photos and unearthed one that might make you smile. Me at the Rollertorium Skating Rink in Buena Park CA, circa 1959 or maybe 1960? We actually lived two blocks from Knott's Berry Farm...back when it was small and FREE!!

EGADS!! I look like Barbara Stanwick in my 'bubble cut' and red lipstick!
