Sweet poem...
Happened upon this in the pet section of Craigslist.
For anyone who has lost a pet...
For anyone who has lost a pet...
TO MY BELOVED MASTER
I STOOD BY YOUR BED LAST NIGHT
I CAME TO HAVE A PEEP
I COULD SEE THAT YOU WERE CRYING,
YOU FOUND IT HARD TO SLEEP.
I WHINED TO YOU SOFTLY AS YOU
BRUSHED AWAY A TEAR,
"IT'S ME, I HAVEN'T LEFT YOU, I'M WELL
I'M FINE, I'M HERE"
I WAS CLOSE TO YOU AT BREAKFAST,
I WATCHED YOU POUR YOUR TEA,
YOU WERE THINKING OF THE MANY TIMES,
YOUR HANDS REACHED DOWN TO ME.
I WALKED WITH YOU TOWARDS THE HOUSE,
AS YOU FUMBLED FOR YOUR KEY,
I GENTLY PUT MY PAW ON YOU,
I SMILED AND SAID 'IT'S ME'
I WAS WITH YOU AT MY GRAVE TODAY,
YOU TEND IT WITH SUCH CARE,
I WANT TO REASSURE YOU,
THAT I'M NOT LAYING THERE.
TONIGHT YOU LOOKED SO VERY TIRED,
AND SANK INTO A CHAIR,
I TRIED SO HARD TO LET YOU KNOW,
THAT I WAS STANDING THERE.
YOU SAT THERE VERY QUIETLY, THEN SMILED,
I THINK YOU KNEW....
IN THE STILLNESS OF THE EVENING,
I WAS VERY CLOSE TO YOU
.AND WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT
FOR YOU TO CROSS THE BRIEF DIVIDE,
I'LL RUSH ACROSS TO GREET YOU
AND WE'LL STAND SIDE BY SIDE.
I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO SHOW YOU,
THERE IS SO MUCH FOR YOU TO SEE.
BE PATIENT, LIVE YOUR JOURNEY OUT....
THEN COME HOME TO ME.

BLOGVERSARY GIVEAWAY!
I never in a million years would have thought that I would ever have a blog, let alone have anything to say! Well, it's been a year, and I have met some fabulous folks through this blog. I want to show my appreciation with a giveaway! I have been scouting around the house for some goodies to give away and I think I've come up with some cuties!!!
Clockwise from top left: A sweet Swanky Swig glass with red roses; a Yankee Candle votive in their luscious Home Sweet Home fragrance; 2 vintage Pyrex custard cups; a darling little gardening journal; a pink linen fingertip towel; a tiny yellow china trinket box; a vintage recipe booklet of Mom's Best Country Recipes; a vintage shoe pincushion; and finally, a small Cath Kidston tote bag.
I'm sure you all know the drill ~grin~. Just leave me a comment on this post and on May 1st I will use the random number generator to pick the winner.

Rant...
Was anyone else outraged when they saw the new Burger King commercial? I'm glad I'm not alone. They just can't win for losing. Check this one out. I'd be finding me a new ad agency pronto. Besides, I think the new 'king' is hideous! We don't eat there anyway.

Shopping trip...garden and thrifting
Went to the nursery. It was lovely as usual, just too early in the season to be too lush and green. They do great little vignette displays, but I only got a couple of pics before my camera died.
This is a storage... shed. Love it!
I didn't buy any of their roses..they were $30! Not knowing if I could even grow roses, I opted for these $6.00 beauties from Wal-mart, along with a couple sweet hyacinths coming into bloom.
I did buy a nice rosemary plant, a couple of sedums and this pretty pink geranium at the nursery. They didn't have the place filled yet, so will go back in a few weeks.
We did go thrifting as well. I don't seem to bring as much home these days as I've done in the past. Maybe I'm getting more selective, or maybe I'm just feeling really cheap!!
I came home with these adorable shoes!!!
This sweet vinatge clock that works perfectly...
and these cutie patooties..
Had a great day and now it's time to bbq burgers!!! Thank goodness for spring!!!

No Pink Saturday for me this week :-(
Well, I just didn't have time to get anything together this week. We've been way too busy with trying to get the spare bedroom remodel done before the good weather hits and we have to spend all of our time in the yard. I'm beginning to regret putting in so many flower beds. The older I get the less upkeep I feel like doing. The yards are a total mess because I never get around to doing any fall clean-up. Woe is me.
This weekend is supposed to be very warm, so hopefully we can something done. Today we're going to an awesome local nursery, Schilling's Solar City Gardens.
Everything they have is propagated locally to withstand our High Desert environment. I'll be looking for some PINK ROSES. I've never tried roses here, so we'll see.
My hens and chicks survived the winter in a grand fashion! I just can't seem to get enough of them!!
Time to make breakfast! I'll be back later with, hopefully, pictures of my new rose bushes!!
(My 1 year blogiversary is on the 23rd of this month. I'll be doing an awesome giveaway, so check back!!)

Easter Sunday bird watching
MDH and I spent Easter Sunday like we do most holidays..nestled in the den watching movies all day. My spot on the sofa affords me a great view of of the 'bird yard' where I have numerous houses and feeders. All day long I can watch the feeding and comin's and goin's of all the resident birdies...house sparrows, scrub jays, flickers and woodpeckers. Imagine my surprise to look up and see a whole flock of something new!!! I managed to get this photo of a pair, male and female, on the black oil sunflower feeder. Beautiful!
Evening Grosbeaks!! I've only ever seen one or two at a time, and not every year. There must have bee 20 of them all over the feeders!! Made my day! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday as well!

Late for PS!!!
Late late late!!! Should have had this post up yesterday!!! Beverly at How Sweet the Sound hosts this romp through pink blog posts every Saturday. Join in the fun!! Go visit her blog and visit all the pretty pinkies for the week!
Here's my contribution. I've had this pink lidded milk glass cold cream jar for around 20 years. I've thought of selling it several times, but, as you can see, it's still in my possession :-)
MDH and I found this little pink plastic cow in a State Park parking lot when we were dating. He's a diminutive 1 1/2" long, and we named him Moozer. Some little kid must have lost him/her. I think it's sweet.
Aren't these the prettiest vintage postcards? Love 'em!
As always, have a beautiful Pink Saturday, and I'll try to visit as many Pinkies as I can this weekend!

Yesterday's junkin' trip...
Well, I decided to muster up the energy to go to the Antique Market at a farm out in the country. I knew I'd kick myself if I didn't go because I had been looking forward to it for a month!
Basil decided that he didn't want to be left behind. Silly cat!!
After driving for what seemed an eternity, I saw some cars on the side of the road. Must be getting close!
Closer....
closer still...
There it is!
Oh,my!
What fun!
Actually, I was pretty overwhelmed. So much to see. Isn't this a cute sign?
I made one purchase. A sweet nightstand for the guestroom remodel.
Then we went garage-saling, and I found some cutie pie things...
Here's a close-up of the darling bunny made out of a gardening glove!!
and a sweet quilted doorknob bunny..
I don't have a hot water bottle, but I'll need to get one now! Here's a sweet lambiepie cover for one! Couldn't resist!
Got an almost new pretty throw blanket with rosebuds, and a precious hand-made stickhorse!!!
MDH picked up this 78 rpm record set for a buck!! Go Bing!!
While out and about, we saw this sweet house. I want to live there!!
All in all it was a great day. The sun was shining, it was almost warm, and it got me out of the house! I feel much better today! Hope you all had a great Saturday. Today we're staying HOME!!
