Pink Saturday and a dragon tale...

Pink Saturday again!! Found this little sweetie at the thrift store!!! I have been collecting dragon's since MDH and I met. Our first date was at the mall to see a movie. After the movie we walked around the mall window shopping, and I fell in love with a little Dakin dragon at the Hallmark store. He was burgandy with cute pink toenails and tail scales!! I loved him!! We left the store and went to get a hot dog and an orange julias (yes, I was a cheap date), and while I was eating he excused himself for a few minutes. He came back with a bag containing the little dragon, which we named Igaboo. Don't know where the name came from, but it stuck, and Igaboo still resides in the spare bedroom up on a shelf after 15 years. He has been joined by several bros and sis' over the years, and now he has a new friend. All of my dragons have names. Would you like to help me name this one?? LOL! Isn't she pretty???

A Shelter Dog's Christmas

'Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town,
Every shelter is full - we are lost but not found,
Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,
We hope every minute that someone will care,
They'll come to adopt us and give us the call,
"Come here, Max and Sparkie - come fetch your new ball!!"
But now we sit here and think of the days
We were treated so fondly - we had cute, baby ways.
Once we were little, then we grew and we grew,
Now we're no longer young and we're no longer new.

So out the back door we were thrown like the trash,
They reacted so quickly - why were they so rash?
We "jump on the children"; "don't come when they call";
We "bark when they leave us"; climb over the wall.
We should have been neutered, we should have been spayed,
Now we suffer the consequence of the errors THEY made.
If only they'd trained us, if only we knew,
We'd have done what they asked us and worshiped them, too.
We were left in the backyard, or worse - left to roam,
Now we're tired and lonely and out of a home.
They dropped us off here and they kissed us good-bye,
"Maybe someone else will give you a try."

So now here we are, all confused and alone,
In a shelter with others who long for a home.
The kind workers come through with a meal and a pat,
With so many to care for, they can't stay to chat,
They move to the next kennel, giving each of us cheer,
We know that they wonder how long we'll be here.
We lay down to sleep and sweet dreams fill our heads,
Of a home filled with love and our own cozy beds.
Then we wake to see sad eyes, brimming with tears,
Our friends filled with emptiness, worry, and fear.

If you can't adopt us and there's no room at the inn,
Could you help with the bills and fill our food bin?
We count on your kindness each day of the year,
Can you give more than hope to everyone here?
Please make a donation to pay for the heat
And help get us something special to eat.
The shelter that cares for us wants us to live,
And more of us will, if more people will give.

Pink Saturday!

Pink pink pink!!! Fast becoming my favorite color!!!

Here's my new thermos. I found it, brand new, at Goodwill for $3. Cute his & hers picture, eh??


Next, you have my new polish!! I usually don't go in for frosted, but loved this! Don't wear it on my fingers, as I keep my nails very short for work. I don't like the looks of polish on short fingernails, but my toes are dressed up year round!!



And, lastly, here is the awesome pink leather purse I found on ebay for a song. However, my sister fell in love with it on Thanksgiving day, so I gave it to her.


Unbeknownst to her, I emptied my stuff into a paper sack and had my husband sneak it to the car. Then I snuck into her bedroom and put the empty bag on her dresser. There was so much hullabaloo with kids and dogs, that she didn't notice. It took HOURS for me to get a phone call after we left that she had found it. She was thrilled!! I loved the bag, but I really didn't need a nother pink bag, as I have this one as well.

a few things...

Good morning faithful readers :-) Just thought I'd post about a couple of random things.

1. Crass commercial announcement: I'm having a holiday sale in my Etsy shop! 10% off entire purchase now through the New Year! I have a lot of great vintage items listed that would make great gifts for the vintage lover on your list!!

2. It's unfortunate that Blogger does not allow responses to post comments. Don't they realize that we like to dialogue? Anyhoo, Patty asked a couple of questions I'd like to answer here. In response to her question on my "ahhh..." post, no, I didn't take those pictures. I found them on either LOLcats or LOLdogs, and the images moved me very much. Sweet and sad at the same time. She also asked if Basil was in a basket in a comment on this post. Yes, he's ina basket, and I have a whole folder of probably 30 photos of him in various boxes, baskets, etc., including this one in a coiled up hose!!


Isn't that a hoot??? If it looks like he can get any part of his body in it, he will, no matter the size of the container.
And Patty, I'm kind of a sock geek as well :-)

3. I'm quickly coming up on my 200th post!!! Who'd a thunk it that just 6 or so months ago I would even HAVE a blog! It's been real fun so far, and I'm thinking hard on what to include in my big GIVEAWAY when that 200th post hits. I have some thoughts, so stay tuned!!

A sighting...

Saw this little guy in the backyard this afternoon. This is not my pic, as he was too 'flighty' to get a picture of. I'm was really excited to see him as my wild birds have been few and far between this year due to some really bossy blue jays that have taken up residence on our property. He didn't stay around long, and he probably won't be back :-(



Update: thought some of you might want to know what he is! He's a Rufous-sided Towhee!!

Kitchen stuff and a book recommendation...

I have become enamored with the color aqua lately, so I have begun to incorporate it into my kitchen a little at a time. Here's what I have so far:

I rec'd my Amazon order the other day. I purchased these two books in order to help me price my wares on Etsy...


The suggested prices in the first one are MUCH higher than the second one, and I like the second one much better overall. The prices in it are pretty much in line with what I sell my things for in my shop. There were several things in there that I actually have, and much much more that I'd LOVE to get my hands on. I highly recommend the second book if you're looking for a good reference on kitchen collectibles!!

Pink Saturday!!

PINK SATURDAY again!!

I'm going to have to go out and buy more pink stuff!! I'm running out! Here is my contribution for today...


my new boudoir lamp for my dresser :-) It leans toward the peachy-pink side, but I love it. And of course my pretty vase and little pitcher makes a nice little pink vignette :-)
